Since I begin, I have accomplised 6% of my weight loss towards my healthy weight. For those who are very close to their ideal weight, the change comes in smaller percentages. For me, this is change is hardly visible but it is nevertheless a successful weight loss week.
I am defining success as moving in the desired direction. I realize, that if I am to wait for a destination or a goal to be successful, I will not have enough steam to see me through. It takes a lot of will power to achieve something massive. And one can easily give up while on the journey. Or one would arrive at the destination, celebrate and have nothing more to look forward to.
The way to not lose sight while on the journey or to have shallow joy is then to redefine success. Being fit and eating healthy is now my goal. A desired size and weight is not my goal. And as long as I am pursuing eating to the glory of God – not living from my belly, then I do think that I am successful. The healthy size and weight will eventually come.
So this week has been successful in terms of weight loss. I am so glad. My food has been interesting. I am paying attention to what I eat and am eating my vegetables and fruits. For those of you who know me, I would stay clear of those earlier. Also, I am watching fatty foods. Boy, that part is hard.
My current struggle is that I am not getting enough protein from whatever I am eating. It is so hard to get enough protein from meats or vegetable sources. I am uncertain if my proteing goal is high or the food I am eating is not right.
For now, I am happy to stay off of unnecessary fats and eat enough fibre and vitamins. I am also watching my carbs. Boy that was an eye opener. My natural diet had been a lot of carbs and fats. So that’s where my eyes are. As I get a rein on those, I will have to concentrate on proteins as well.
That’s it for this week’s update on my health and fitness journey.
