It took us 2.5 days to clean up and apply the primer coat and the two top coats of the damp proof layer on the roof.
I am thankful for the 3 days of sunshine we had that enabled us to do this phase of the work. It appears that there will be rain today and tomorrow that will test the quality of the work done.
Thanks be to God we had help from 4 of my pastoral interns who volunteered to help our family in fixing the roof. In all reality, they did all the heavy work of the job and I was more of a supervisor how did bits here and there. They had to pull my weight as well in the task. The job was fairly hard – you have to be out in the brightest and hottest part of the day and work directly under the scathing sun.
Lauren worked from the kitchen bringing us food, water, tea and energy drink. The kids assisted as servers and were excited to see the work. It felt like the olden days where the men worked outside and the women served from the kitchen. It was a good partnership.
I still have to work on those nasty steel rods that are projecting out of the roof and cover them with some metal protective layer. I hope to be able to chop them off sometime. They are a nuisance to the roof.
