I have never seen Ps 119 like this ever before. I have always read the Psalms. I mean read not related with it except for times when I am in distress. This time as I read the Psalm 119, it was different. A good different.
Earlier this year we learnt to pray using Piper’s IOUS method.
- Incline my heart to you, not to prideful gain or any false motive. (Psalm 119:36)
- Open my eyes to behold wonderful things in your Word. (Psalm 119:18)
- Unite my heart to fear your name. (Psalm 86:11)
- Satisfy me with you steadfast love. (Psalm 90:14)
So as I went through the Bible reading plan, I asked God to help me with opening my eyes to behold the wonderful things in His word. And the most wonderful thing happened. As I read this Psalm, God opened my eyes to see the Psalmist’s thirst for the word of God. And He also put a thirst to know and cherish His word. I pray that I will someday cherish and appreciate God’s word just like the Psalmist in 119 does!
