What a beautiful day! I had my first girl friends time out with some besties. What fun! Every now and then it is good to stop by and thank God for His faithfulness in keeping us and His grace in giving us friends, friends whose common denominator is Christ.
Parenting wise today it has been not that bad. I failed many times but my baby and hubby have been patient and wonderful to me. Allie came to me apologetically for the work done in the class. I got a little worked up because I saw that mam had erased and re-done the work for her. I was wondering what has gotten into her that she suddenly has been not up to the mark where she can generally be! This lead to me lecturing her etc., after a few minutes, I heard a feeble voice, mama I don’t know cursive writing. Mam wrote in cursive writing and I couldn’t hence I wrote in capital letters and mam wrote in small. At that time I was so ashamed of myself for having scolded and lectured her while she wanted me to understand her. Upon examination of the book I realized that what she said was true. She had done the work correctly but only that she used caps instead of small.
Things I learnt from this – Ask for an explanation before yelling or lecturing. Give her an ear. She might actually have a valid point. I was so thankful that she spoke to me so gently and explained the situation. I don’t know if I will always get a chance to sort out things with her like this one. But the fact that she did, gave me a chance to understand her! I pray that I will always give her a proper hearing before I have to voice my opinion.
Today is zoo day for Allie. Waiting for her to come back home!
