I wrote this poem for Cross Cultured Church‘s worship gathering and recited it as the prayer of adoration on March 8, 2026.
I will exalt you my God and my creator,
I will open my mouth in praise to you, my maker,
For you are great and greatly to be praised,
With this congregation willI choose to praise you unashamed.
Your splendor and majesty are unmatchable,
and your ways inscrutable.
You hold both the big and small,
and they stay safe in your arms—not some but all.
You hold the sun, moon, and stars in place,
and you order the seasons; creation sings your praise.
You color the skies pink, blue, and gold,
and praise rings out as your eyes behold.
You made the chirping birds—they thank their maker,
and we, together with them, lift our eyes to you, our creator.
You are majestic and glorious,
and yet you are so intimate and personal.
Who is man that you are mindful of him?
That you make us the object of your love?
You hear; you speak;
You love; you correct;
You delight; you mourn;
You grow us; you prune us.
And with baffled mind upon your inscrutable ways,
we the congregation will praise you,
we will praise you unashamed,
For you are great and greatly to be praised.
